Soooo, hi everyone! Bit of a dramatic title, I know. But, I’m sure it won’t be the last time that I use it because...WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?! I mean, really! I suppose I’m mainly focusing in on the state of American politics, but I’m sure you could think of plenty of situations that are applicable. As long as we’re alive this question will alwayyyys be revelant!
But, back to politics ... every American since 1776 has felt this way (particularly Black people on 7/4/1776 when white people were proclaiming this to be a free country...that must have been the Side Eye of the Millennium) and we’re no different now. Though, things do seem to feel different, right? No matter what side of the aisle you rep, we can all agree that Trump and what he represents has turned this country upside down (or backwards depending on your vantage point).
I think that his brashness and inability to apologize and consistent social/political bombshells have made this whole presidency feel extreme and have led us to feel on edge! I don’t think that it’s inaccurate to say that the fate of our nation is hanging in the balance. It’s up to us as citizens to put in the work to ensure that our country moves forward.
So, I suppose that when someone asks “What the Hell Is Happening?!”, the answer would be: Progress, in all its messy, complicated glory.
